 | Debbie is a freelance photographer who prefers not to shoot hard news.
She doesn't like the idea of waiting for trouble, of chasing after stories and fighting with the pack to
get the shot. "I don't get a rush from dead bodies. I am a people photographer.
I love the whole personal aspect of it and the challenge in trying to capture some
essence of personality - of what’s really happening at the time."
Hang in tight. When Debbie does have to get into the pack, she - a straight-backed five-foot-six - has
learned to hold her own. "I’ve gotten pretty good with the shoulders and elbows.
You’ve got to be strong to hold your position.
The hardest thing when photographing with a lot of media is the television cameras.
Those guys are big and their cameras are heavy and they’ll knock off your head for position.
You have to hang tight in there."
